Woman’s body found at bottom of cliff in crashed car two months later | US News

The body found in a car that apparently fell off a cliff is believed to be that of a California woman who was reported missing two months ago.

Jorissa Fuentes, 22, was first reported missing on August 8, according to NBC News.

The wreckage of her car containing her belongings was found Monday in a ravine near Songping Lake in the foothills of Fresno’s Sierra Nevada mountains. California.

NBC News reports how police suspect there were no suspicious circumstances in the woman’s death – she may have been driving at the time of the accident.

Selma Police Chief Rudy Alcalás, who discovered the tire tracks that led them to the crash site, said: “We wish we had better news.

“I hope we can bring Ms Fuentes home.”

The woman’s father, Joe Fuentes, called the police chief “my hero” because he “assured me that he would find my daughter”.

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims said: “There is no doubt that we found her.”

Police said tire tracks left by the vehicle could be seen extending through vegetation to the edge of the cliff.

Search and rescue teams had to use special equipment to get to the crash site.
