Plane crash claims life of Texas business owner

SELIGMAN, Ariz. (KFDX/KJTL) — A Texas contractor and his wife were killed in a plane crash in a remote area north of Seligman, Arizona.

The victims were identified as Chad and Brandy Wilson, owners of Wilson Contracting in Wichita Falls, Texas, according to multiple family friends.

Tuesday, September 2 at approximately 11:48 a.m. (Arizona time), according to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office. On March 13, the Williams/Grand Canyon substation’s sheriff’s deputy made a report of a missing plane to an area north of Seligman.

Delegates notified the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that a plane disappeared between Kingman and Flagstaff.

When deputies were unable to reach the area, an Arizona Department of Public Safety air rescue helicopter was called to help with the search, and at about 1:30 p.m. Arizona time, the crash site was located and two people were confirmed dead.

There was a very severe storm in the area, and CSO’s Jon Paxton said helicopters had to leave the scene as more storms entered.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) was notified of the accident and was asked to investigate.

Wichita County Sheriff David Duke said his office received the call Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 9. On the 13th, the Wilson family intends to meet before a deputy makes contact with a member of the Wilson family at their home.
