Marvel actor Jeremy Renner was helping a stranded motorist over the weekend when he was run over by his snowplow, an official said.
Reno, Nevada, Mayor Hillary Schieve said the crash happened on New Year’s Day when the 51-year-old actor was trying to help a driver outside his ranch on the side of a snowy mountain.

She said she was a friend of the actor who received the call shortly after the accident.
“He was always helping people,” she told the paper.
A statement said the actor’s family was grateful for the “excellent doctors and nurses who took care of him”.
It added: “They were also very overwhelmed and thanked his fans for the outpouring of love and support.”
Mr. Rainer suffered blunt trauma to the chest and orthopedic injuries and remains in critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit at Reno Hospital following surgery, his publicist said yesterday.
