Law enforcement officials are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred Sunday at the Kingdom Auditorium of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Thornton, Colorado, police said.
Police in Thornton received a fire call from the congregation who were told an adult woman had been shot by an adult man before turning the gun himself, an adult man said. statement from the police.
The men were married and former members of the congregation, police said.
“The investigation is still ongoing, witnesses are being questioned and the scene is being inspected,” Thornton Police said. said in a tweet.
“The Dangerous Goods Unit is conducting an assessment of a suspicious device found at the scene.”
Police said there are currently no known threats to the community.
No motive or further information has been released at this time.
Thornton is about 10 miles north of Denver.
