Ghislaine Maxwell has said she “feels bad” about Prince Andrew and admitted they are no longer friends, in her first prison interview since being convicted of sex trafficking.

Speaking to CBS and Paramount Plus, the 60-year-old said she understands why Duke of YorkThe lawyers had to downplay their friendship.

“I feel bad for him,” she told an interviewer, according to The Sun. “I focus on what happened to him.”

When she was first released from prison, she said: “I accept that this friendship cannot survive my beliefs.

But she added that “many women can identify” with falling in love with someone they regret.

The first interview was conducted at the high-security detention center in New York, where she was held following her arrest, and the second was conducted in Florida.

Maxwell said that, like Prince Andrew, she accepted they were no longer in touch. But she said she was “honored” when former President Donald Trump wished her well before the trial.

Describing how they were “mixed in the same circle”, she said his words were “a big motivator”.

Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison following his 2020 arrest.

Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan federal prison cell in August 2019 as he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges.
