What changes do you expect to continue due to the pandemic, and which do you think will be scaled back?

Telehealth exploded early in the pandemic. In particular, it is essential for patients who have received various care but still need a visit but we cannot bring them to the office. Telemedicine is great. In my own practice, I implement parking lot pressure, where I stress patients in the parking lot, then they go home, then I do telemedicine with them to control their glaucoma, or sometimes their diabetes and macular Transgender people undergo vision screening outside the office, followed by telehealth follow-up.

I think telehealth is here to stay. I think it will be enhanced over the next few years.I am excited about one of my ophthalmology courses [Office] Regarding the future, I think virtual reality devices are still in their infancy. I think they will be part of more and more eye care in the future.

So, I mentioned some data points to my colleagues. The first is that we estimate that global vision loss will increase from 1.1 billion to 1.6 billion over the next 30 years. These are patients with mild, moderate or severe vision loss or blindness. In the US today, 17% of citizens are between the ages of 65 and 55 million. By 2060, 97 million people, or 23 percent, in the United States will be over the age of 65. Ophthalmology tends to be skewed towards the elderly population, so we need to find ways to manage patients better – manage them more effectively. I am looking for how Lean Management can help our practice.

I’m excited to see the IRIS registry data and research looking at massive population datasets how this data innovates and helps us treat our patients with higher technology, more effective care, resulting in better outcomes every day.
