At least 10 people were killed and 55 wounded in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson after Russian shelling hit the region on Saturday, Yaroslav Yanushevych, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, said in his latest death toll update.

Yanousevich called on residents of Kherson to donate blood to help save the lives of those injured in the shelling.

He also said that the Russians used the “Grad multiple rocket launcher system to attack the center of Kherson” and that 18 of the 55 people were in critical condition.

The head of the regional government noted that no children were among the victims of Saturday morning’s shelling.

Meanwhile, he reported five people were killed and 17 wounded in Russian shelling on Friday.

“Among the injured was a 6-year-old girl, the doctors fought for her life and managed to save her,” Yanushevych said. “But, unfortunately, the six-year-old girl has lost her eyes and ears. She has a broken leg. We will evacuate her to Kyiv.”

Yanusevich said shelling of the city continued all day Saturday, especially along the Dnieper River, hampering rescue efforts to clear debris.

Areas along the Dnieper River, such as Hydropark, Antonivka and Navtohavan, do not have heating or electricity. People living in these areas have been under heavy shelling and “need to be evacuated immediately,” Yanousevich said.

“It’s almost impossible to restore the infrastructure in these areas,” Yanusievic said.
