LAS VEGAS (AP) — Doug Brumfield threw for 233 yards and a touchdown in the second half as UNLV scored 24 points unanswered Friday night and finished with a 31- 20 beat New Mexico.
Broomfield turned left, then jumped off a defender and into the end zone from six yards to tie it 17-17 midway through the third quarter. Aidan Robbins added a 3-yard TD run that gave UNLV (4-1, 2-0 Mountain West Conference) a good lead early in the fourth quarter.
Geordon Porter’s one-handed catch for 39 yards led to a 36-yard field goal by George Steinkamp to pull the Lobos to 24-20 with 12:43 left.
A 35-yard punt by Marshall Nichols locked the Lobos on their 10 with 53 seconds left before the Rebels added a 12-yard No. 6 pick after four games.
After the Lobos led 17-0, Daniel Gutierrez shot from 41, 50 and 47 yards to put UNLV up 17-9 at halftime.
Miles Kendrick had two 8-yard touchdowns for New Mexico in the first quarter (2-3, 0-2). Kendrick completed 13 of 25 passes for 163 yards with two interceptions and added 61 yards on the ground.
