Former President Barack Obama stuck with the annual tradition on Friday, releasing a list of his favorites for 2022, including movies and books.
“I always look forward to sharing lists of my favorite books, movies and music,” Obama said tweets“To start, here are some books I read and enjoyed this year. Let me know which books I should be reading in 2023.”
Among his favorites, Obama listed Carmin Chen’s “The Good Mother’s School” and former first lady Michelle Obama’s “The Light We Carry,” noting, “I’m a little bit biased about this book.”
The former president included “Top Gun: Maverick” and “The Descendants” on his list of favorite movies, noting that he has a “bias” against them because the Netflix documentary was produced by Produced by Higher Ground Productions, the company founded by Obama.
“I’ve seen some great movies this year – here are some of my favourites. What did I miss?” Obama wrote another tweet.
Social media users were quick to point out that Obama had left out “Black Panther: Forever Wakanda,” one of the year’s highest-grossing films. The 2018 Marvel blockbuster and sequel to “Black Panther” is second only to “Top Gun: Maverick” in box office totals this year, bringing in more than 100,000 dollars domestically alone since its November release, according to Box Office. $421 million box office magic. “Black Panther” was Obama’s favorite movie of 2018.
When it comes to the 44th president’s favorite music of the year, songs by Beyoncé and Lizzo top the list.
